Offering convenient, on-site lab services at every one of our urgent care centers

Lab Services

At Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care, we take great pride in offering our patients the convenience of on-site lab services at every one of our urgent care centers. That means our patients immediately get the tests and results they need, at a lower cost than going to another location for lab results.

All of our labs are state-of-the-art facilities equipped to handle a wide range of medical tests. Each lab is staffed by experienced professionals who are committed to delivering a superior level of patient care and attention.

Rapid PCR Testing

Our NEW on-site rapid PCR

testing offers the gold standard in diagnostic testing with the fastest turn-around time available. With quick and accurate testing, you’ll get the answers you need to start feeling better faster and help protect the ones you love. Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care rapid PCR testing provides same-day test results for:
  • COVID-19
  • Influenza A and B (the flu)
  • RSV
  • Strep Throat

Peace-of-mind is priceless. Get definitive answers to help you make informed decisions on how to proceed with treatment and prevent disease transmission to your loved ones.

Why PCR Testing?

Testing can help distinguish between influenza, RSV and COVID infections, particularly during periods of time when multiple viruses are circulating in our communities.

Influenza A & B: Definitive results in 20 minutes. Most anti-viral medications used to treat influenza need to be administered within a short window from symptom onset. A quick diagnosis is crucial to receive the right treatment.

Strep A: Definitive results in 15 minutes. Sending a throat culture to an outside lab is not necessary with a Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care PCR test. Initiation of antibiotic treatment can be started immediately if the test is positive for strep and if negative can avoid unnecessary antibiotics.

RSV: Definitive results in 20 minutes. Babies under the age of 12 months and older adults, and anyone with heart and lung disease are at the highest-risk for serious complications from RSV. Accurate results help providers to proceed with treatment when necessary and knowing can help to avoid the spread for higher risk loved ones.

COVID-19: Definitive results in 20 minutes. No more waiting for accurate results! PCR testing has been recognized throughout the pandemic as the “gold-standard” for diagnosing COVID and for confirming negative results.

Additional tests we perform on-site:

  • Mononucleosis
  • Pregnancy
  • Hemoglobin
  • Urinalysis
  • Glucose
  • Hemoccult (to detect the presence of blood in the stool)

Additional lab testing services

We partner with a national lab to perform all other tests that require processing off-site. We will collect your sample on-site and ensure that you receive your results in a timely manner with any additional follow-up care needed.

  • Blood work (Complete blood count, basic metabolic panel, comprehensive metabolic panel, and more)
  • STD/STI testing
  • Tick borne illness testing (Lyme, Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis, and more)

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the attention you gave me last week.

My son was started on antibiotics and ear drops. Within 24 hours he began to feel better. The poor kid had been going to school in tears because he was afraid of missing any more days, but feeling (and looking) just awful! He's not been able to even think about lacrosse practice, but thanks to starting him on antibiotics, he was thrilled to return to practice today.
