At the start of each season, most schools, organizations and sports teams require a physical before children can participate or attend. Typically there are two parts to the sports, camp and school physical; a review of the patient’s medical history and the physical exam. This physical exam, conducted by our professional, experienced providers, helps determine whether it is safe for your child to participate in activities.
A: No; a sports physical, camp physical, or school physical (administrative physicals) is not a replacement for the comprehensive annual preventative examination that is performed by your Primary Care Provider, which includes a comprehensive history and physical exam findings; age-appropriate counseling, screening labs, and tests; orders for vaccines appropriate for age; and risk factors. We recommend all patients see their primary care provider for an annual physical.
