Yale New Haven Health was formed in 1995 to focus on enhancing the lives of those we serve by providing access to integrated, high-value, patient-centered care in collaboration with others who share our values.
Our System consists of four Delivery Networks: Bridgeport, Greenwich, Lawrence + Memorial Health and Yale New Haven, and a physician foundation, Northeast Medical Group. We also have clinical relationships with several hospitals in Connecticut and numerous outpatient locations throughout the state.
Delivery NetworksBridgeport Hospital is a non-profit 501-bed urban teaching hospital and home to Milford Campus of Bridgeport Hospital as well as the second inpatient campus of Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. Affiliated with Yale School of Medicine, the hospital operates the only burn center in Connecticut – The Connecticut Burn Center. Bridgeport Hospital is certified by the Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center and approved by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a teaching hospital cancer program.
Greenwich Hospital is a non-profit, 206-bed community teaching hospital, affiliated with Yale School of Medicine. It was the first Connecticut hospital to receive the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for adhering to strict standards for excellence and safety in spinal fusion and total hip and knee replacement. The hospital also received the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association quality achievement award for its higher stroke care standard. As a progressive regional healthcare center, it includes Smilow Cancer Hospital's Greenwich Hospital Campus.
Lawrence + Memorial is a non-profit, 280-bed general and acute care hospital providing patient care to medical, surgical, pediatric, psychiatric and obstetrical patients in southeastern Connecticut since 1912. Westerly Hospital is a 125-bed hospital that provides a wide array of medical, surgical, laboratory and rehabilitative services. The delivery network is also an important health care provider for the residents of Fishers Island, New York, and Washington County, Rhode Island. Specialty areas include southeastern Connecticut's only Newborn Intensive Care Unit, a Wound and Hyperbaric Center and an acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. L+M offers cardiac acute, step-down and rehabilitation programs and is the only eastern Connecticut hospital that performs emergency and elective angioplasty. The Lawrence + Memorial Cancer Center in Waterford, Connecticut, provides medical oncology services, GYN oncology and radiation oncology to area residents.
Yale New Haven Hospital is a non-profit, 1,541-bed acute and tertiary medical center receiving regional, national and international referrals. It provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary, family-focused care in more than 100 medical specialty areas and has ranked among the best by U.S. News & World Report in specialties such as cancer; diabetes and endocrinology; geriatrics; gynecology; pulmonology; gastroenterology; neurology and neurosurgery; urology; ear, nose and throat; and kidney disorders. With two inpatient campuses in New Haven, Yale New Haven Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for Yale School of Medicine. Yale New Haven Hospital includes several outpatient centers in New Haven, North Haven, East Haven and Guilford and dozens of radiology and blood-drawing services throughout the state.
Established in 2010, Northeast Medical Group (NEMG) is a System-wide physician group designed to create opportunities for better collaboration, quality of care and physician alignment. A not-for-profit multispecialty medical foundation, NEMG has aligned physicians and mid-level providers across Yale New Haven Health.
NEMG includes the physicians and specialists of more than 130 physician practices as well as the hospital-employed physicians at Greenwich Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital and the hospitalists of Yale New Haven Hospital. Headquartered in Stratford, Connecticut, NEMG’s network extends throughout Connecticut as well as New York’s Westchester County and Rhode Island's Washington County.
Through its growing physician network, NEMG helps Yale New Haven Health better care for patients across the continuum – from hospitals to nursing homes to home. NEMG offers its members opportunities for collaboration and resources to improve practice management and clinical quality. NEMG also supports physician practices through economies of scale, assistance with recruitment efforts and support for the delivery of integrated, high-quality care.
