As the only non-profit home healthcare organization in southeastern Connecticut, our staff provides outstanding care to people from all walks of life who require everything from foot care and blood pressure monitoring to intensive skilled nursing visits, physical therapy and medication management. While many of our clients have adequate health insurance or Medicare coverage to meet their healthcare needs, many others do not. Last year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the number of uninsured adults in the United States is continuing to rise. In fact, many people who suffer from chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and asthma go without the care they need because of inadequate coverage.

Caring for those who do not have the financial means to pay for the critical healthcare they require is a priority for us. Last year we provided over $550,000 in free and subsidized care to people who have very little: the homeless, single mothers, victims of domestic abuse, new immigrants, people with low incomes, people with mental illness, and people living with HIV.

But we don’t do it alone. Each year, more than 1,000 community members help to underwrite these costs by donating by mail, online or over the phone. So please think about making a gift today. Sometimes the simplest healthcare interventions can make all the difference in keeping a patient where they want to be the most – home.
