Construction Alert

Due to construction patients and visitors should allow extra time to navigate the area. The George Street Garage entrance will remain open, but GPS might not be accurate during construction. Signs directing traffic will be posted. Emergency traffic will be able to access the Saint Raphael Campus Emergency Department.

For patient/visitor self-parking, park in the George Street Garage:

For SRC Main OR and SRC McGivney OR patients: Due to city-planned construction beginning September 9, 2024, the entrance to our patient parking garage at 629 George St may be closed. Patients can still access the garage through a separate entrance on the corner of George and Orchard Street. Please park on any level marked Patient/Visitor Parking. For GPS, Please use 291 Orchard Street, New Haven, CT.


If you are dropping off or picking up a patient:
  • Use the Saint Raphael Campus main entrance.
  • Program your GPS for 1450 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511.

 

Emergency Dept. access

From July 8 - Sept. 13, a portion of Orchard Street between George and Chapel streets will be closed due to construction.

Ambulances and cars will not be able to access Orchard Street and the ED entrance via Chapel Street from 7 am – 4 pm.

Vehicles will be able to access Orchard Street and the ED entrance from George Street.

Signs will be posted.

Going Home

Your doctor will determine when you are ready to be discharged from the hospital. He or she will write your discharge order and, along with other members of your team, will provide instructions about continuing care and recovery at home.

The Suites at Yale New Haven

Located minutes from Yale New Haven Hospital and its Smilow Cancer Hospital, Children's Hospital and Saint Raphael Campus, The Suites, at 25 Dwight Street in New Haven, includes 24 suites with extended stay options. Daily, weekly and monthly rates are available. For extended stays, a small number of rooms are available at a reduced fee via social work referral.

The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut

The Ronald McDonald House is a place where families can stay while their child is being treated at the hospital. A referral from a hospital staff member is required before a family can register as a guest at the House. A modest fee is charged per night.

YNHH offers transportation from the hospital to the Ronald McDonald House. Please call Protective Services at 203-688-2500 in advance of the time you would like to leave.

Parking

Short-term patient and visitor parking

Long-term patient and visitor parking

YNHH offers long-term patient/visitor parking at discounted rates. Patients expected to be hospitalized for more than one week should discuss parking options with their social worker.

Emergency Department parking

  • Patient-only Emergency Department parking is available in designated spaces in the George Street garage.
  • Patient parking rates: Free for up to 3 hours in designated garage spaces. After 3 hours, vehicle owners will be charged the short-term parking rate ($1 per hour for 4 to 7 hours; up to $20 for over 7 to 24 hours). Please see parking attendant at ED entrance for a ticket for the free, 3-hour parking.
