Smilow Cancer Hospital has locations conveniently located across the region. Each location offers patients convenient and prompt access to our multidisciplinary team of renowned cancer experts and classical hematology specialists. Working together with the patient, they develop a personalized treatment plan. Additionally, patients have direct access to ground-breaking research, world-class physicians, genetic testing, tumor profiling, and clinical trials through Yale Cancer Center, Connecticut’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

As part of Yale New Haven Health, one of the country’s leading health systems, Smilow Cancer Hospital at Trumbull provides seamless care in conjunction with Bridgeport Hospital and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Fairfield, offering comprehensive services to help patients navigate from diagnosis and treatment to recovery and survivorship.

Clinical Cancer Programs and Specialties

Breast Cancer

Women with a diagnosis of breast cancer are cared for by a multidisciplinary team of physician specialists at the Center for Breast Cancer, including radiologists, breast surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and plastic surgeons. 

Fast-track appointments: We know that time is of the essence for breast cancer treatment. For newly diagnosed patients, we offer same-day or next-day appointments from Monday to Friday. For appointments, call 203-337-8790.

Gastrointestinal Cancer

Physicians with the Center for Gastrointestinal Cancers care for patients with cancers of the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, colon, bile ducts, rectum and anus.

Gynecologic Oncology

The Gynecologic Oncology program focuses on the care of women with gynecologic cancers. Women diagnosed with vulvar, vaginal, cervical, uterine, fallopian tube, or ovarian cancers are provided with exceptional care. Gynecologic oncology services unite a multidisciplinary team of clinicians. Our physicians are board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in the subspecialty of gynecologic oncology, which brings together surgery, chemotherapy and radiation oncology.

Head and Neck Cancers Program

The Head and Neck Cancers Program treats both complex and routine cases involving the neck, larynx (voice box), pharynx (throat), oral cavity (mouth), ear, sinuses, tonsils and salivary glands, as well as cervical (neck) lymph nodes or neck structures.

Hematology

The Hematology program offers the most comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of blood cancers in the region. Patients have access to a disease-based multispecialty team with special interest and clinical expertise treating lymphoma, leukemia and myeloma. Physicians meet regularly to discuss patient care and to develop a comprehensive treatment plan unique for each patient.

Prostate and Urologic Cancers

Patients being cared for by the Prostate and Urologic Cancers program benefit from the expertise of a collaborative approach to cancer care, which personalizes treatment options for tumors affecting the prostate, bladder, kidney, testes, upper tract (ureter and renal pelvis), penis and urethra. As part of your care, we engage experts who specialize in medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, pathology and diagnostic imaging. 

Thoracic Cancer

The Center for Thoracic Cancers coordinates and integrates the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of patients diagnosed with a thoracic malignancy, including lung cancer, thymic cancers, mesothelioma, esophageal or chest wall tumors. Specialties include medical oncology, radiation oncology, thoracic surgery, pulmonary medicine, interventional oncology, pulmonary intervention, pathology, diagnostic imaging and nursing. 

Our patients have access to the Lung Cancer Screening Program which has proven to be a critical tool in providing patients at risk with individualized, evidence-based screening\ and helping to detect these cancers earlier.
