Greenwich, CT (March 24, 2023) – Renowned Yale Medicine surgeon Neil Floch, MD, has been appointed director of Bariatric Surgery at Greenwich Hospital effective May 1. Dr. Floch is a nationally recognized bariatric and general surgeon who uses minimally invasive and robotic techniques. He has performed more than 3,500 advanced laparoscopic procedures, including over 2,500 bariatric surgeries.
“We are delighted that Dr. Floch will bring this level of expertise to our community,” said Diane Kelly, DNP, RN, president of Greenwich Hospital. As director of Bariatric Surgery at Greenwich Hospital, Dr. Floch will oversee programmatic growth, quality, safety, and patient experience at the Fairfield County location, in collaboration with the Division’s well-established programs at Yale New Haven Hospital and Bridgeport Hospital.
Before joining Greenwich Hospital and Yale Medicine, Dr. Floch was section head of General Surgery and director of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Norwalk Hospital and associate clinical professor of surgery at the University of Vermont School of Medicine
He has been deeply involved in bariatric surgery leadership both regionally as president of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery’s (ASMBS) Connecticut Chapter and nationally as the ASMBS social media editor. He has authored 24 journal articles and seven book chapters, including serving as an author and co-editor of Netter’s Gastroenterology. A graduate of Tufts University, Dr. Floch attended Boston University School of Medicine and completed his surgical residency at Beth Israel NYC. He also earned a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery from Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville. His father, Dr. Martin Floch, served as a distinguished Yale clinical professor in the Gastroenterology Division of the Yale Department of Medicine for many years.
