New Haven, CT (Aug. 1, 2022) - The University of New Haven announced that effective August 1 its Student Health Center will be operated by Northeast Medical Group (NEMG). Part of Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS), one of the country’s leading health systems, NEMG includes more than 130 community practices in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Westchester County, NY, and is affiliated with five leading regional hospitals.
“Providing superior medical care for our students is our paramount priority,” said Ophelie Rowe-Allen, Ed.D., dean of students and chief student affairs officer. “Helping to ensure our students’ health and well-being is essential to their personal and academic success. We are grateful for the comprehensive services and support that will be available on campus through our Student Health Center.”
Care providers in the university’s Student Health Center will be employees of Yale New Haven Health and be considered part of the YNHHS network of providers. Most major health insurance plans accept NEMG an in-network provider.
The university’s Student Health Center provides students with a variety of services, including treating acute illnesses or injuries such as upper respiratory infection, urinary infections, STI screening sprains, and more. The center also assists with primary care needs, reproductive health and preventative care services.
All students will have access to YNHHS’s MyChart, which provides personalized and secure online access to portions of their electronic medical record. MyChart also enables users to request medical appointments, view test results, request prescription renewals, and communicate electronically with their medical care team.
The collaboration between the University and Yale New Haven Health extends an existing relationship between the two entities as NEMG provided on-campus COVID testing and COVID vaccinations over the last year.
