U.S. News & World Report once again recognizes Yale New Haven Hospital

NEW HAVEN, CT (July 21, 2015) — Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) continues to rank among the top U.S. hospitals, according to U.S. News & World Report's annual "America's Best Hospitals." Of the nearly 5,000 hospitals surveyed, YNHH ranks nationally in eight of 16 specialties.

Diabetes and endocrinology rank in the nation's top 10 at #8, while psychiatry is at #10, gastroenterology and GI surgery at #22 and gynecology at #27

In addition, Yale New Haven Hospital is ranked among the best nationally in four other medical specialties: cancer, ear, nose and throat, geriatrics and pulmonology.

"The consistency with which Yale New Haven Hospital has been recognized as one of America's Best Hospitals in U.S. News & World Report continues to reflect the growth, hard work and dedication to patient-centered care and excellence that is our hallmark," said Thomas Balcezak, MD, chief medical officer at YNHH. "Through investments in critical services areas to the commitment to clinical research by our physicians, this honor reflects our unique ability to meet the ever-growing needs of our patients and their families and our promise and commitment to best serve the people of our community."

According to U.S. News & World Report, hard numbers support the rankings in most specialties — death rates, patient safety, procedure volume and other objective data. The entire national listing is available online at www.usnews.com/besthospitals.
