Monday, July 1, 2024

NEW HAVEN, CT (July 1, 2024) – Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) has been named a recipient of a 2024 IPRO Quality Award presented in recognition of its significant achievements in improving healthcare quality. YNHH is a participant in the IPRO Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO), a federal program focused on improving the quality of care provided to Medicare patients across the United States. It is funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS).

“We are proud to work with nursing homes, hospitals, community-based providers, and other stakeholders on these important quality improvement initiatives,” said Olukemi Akande, MD, executive director, post-acute care services, Yale New Have Hospital. “Yale New Haven Hospital and the other honorees exemplify the dedication of healthcare providers across the spectrum who have committed themselves to providing the highest quality of care and have done so despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, staffing shortages, an aging workforce and growing number of patients with complex needs.”

Yale New Haven Hospital was recognized in the category of Commitment to Safe Care Transitions and Cross Continuum Collaboration and worked with Healthcentric Advisors, a collaborator in the IPRO QIN-QIO, to achieve measurable quality improvement outcomes working with the IPRO QIN-QIO.

“Recognizing providers that achieve measurable improvement in their quality outcomes is an important aspect of the work we do,” said IPRO CEO Ted Will. “It allows us to showcase the meaningful progress that is made through our partnership with provider organizations that implement evidence-based interventions into their processes.”

Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), part of Yale New Haven Health, is a nationally recognized, 1,541-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine (YSM). Founded as the fourth voluntary hospital in the U.S. in 1826, today, YNHH has two New Haven-based campuses, and also includes Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital and Smilow Cancer Hospital. YNHH has received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the nation’s highest honor of nursing excellence.
