What to Expect
Video Care OnDemand is a telehealth service, providing you with video access for non-emergency medical concerns. With OnDemand, you can connect to clinicians who are experienced in areas such as internal medicine and family practice from your smartphone, tablet (iPhone, iPad, Android device), or PC/MAC. Clinicians can diagnose symptoms, prescribe medication and send prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice. (Controlled substances are unable to be prescribed by the OnDemand program.)
After your visit has been scheduled, you will receive an email or mobile notification with further instructions to prepare you for your visit. Once connected, the medical assistant will verify your information and reason for your visit. You will then be connected to the clinician where you will be treated as if you were at an in-person visit.
After receiving care from a clinician through OnDemand, your visit can be shared with your primary care provider, regardless of where you typically receive care.

Cost and Insurance
Physicians across the Yale New Haven Health System have been relying on Telehealth services to stay connected with their patients. Video visits are billed for the same amount as an in-person visit and many insurance companies are currently accepting those claims. However, some companies may end payments for Telehealth services as we see fewer cases of COVID-19. Be sure to check with your insurance company if you have any questions about how your Telehealth visit will be billed.
