We understand that the healthcare insurance and billing process can be confusing and stressful for patients, so we have several programs and resources to provide as much information and support as possible. These programs and resources include pricing information, financial counseling, financial assistance programs for uninsured and underinsured patients, and patient-friendly billing practices, all of which are designed to provide help and resources when patients may need it most.
We can only act when we are aware, and thus encourage our patients to seek assistance as soon as issues or questions arise.
When you visit us, we will ask you to provide or confirm your insurance information so that we can work directly with your insurance company to process your claim. To make the billing process go smoothly and not incur unnecessary out-of-pocket expenses, ensure we have your most up-to-date insurance information and demographic information (address, employer, phone number, etc.).
As a patient, we recommend that you understand your insurance plan benefits and your responsibility for any deductibles, co-insurance, or co-payment amounts prior to any visit, as well as confirm that our facility is in-network with your plan. If your insurance determines you have an amount due based on your benefits, we will bill you for this amount. Not all services are covered under all insurance plans. If your insurance plan does not cover a service or procedure, you may be responsible. For more information about billing, view our Billing FAQs.
If you have concerns about your potential out-of-pocket costs, the resources below may be able to help.

• Termination or a reduction of a covered employee's hours
• Divorce or legal separation from a covered employee
• Death of a covered employee
• Medicare eligibility for a covered employee
• Loss of a child's or dependent's insurance coverage under the plan (ex: child turned 26)

The Yale New Haven Health Medication Assistance Program (MAP) was launched in 2010 to help patients with high out-of-pocket costs afford their medications. This program provides assistance for oncology and high-cost non-oncology medications.
MAP coordinators collaborate across the Yale New Haven Health System to enroll patients in manufacturer and foundation funded medication assistance programs. This allows our patients to focus on their physical and mental health, rather than the burden of their medical expenses.
