Research and Clinical Trials

Some ask why. We ask, why not? Everybody wants answers, especially when faced with the uncertainty of illness or injury. We share in your quest for solutions. Our physicians and providers are researchers, searching for better understanding of medical science to treat and cure disease.

Our hospitals are academic affiliates of Yale University, and Yale New Haven Hospital is the primary teaching hospital of Yale School of Medicine

Such a partnership provides access to medicine’s brightest minds, current technologies – and real-world experience that can lead to answers. Another benefit of receiving care at an academic medical center: Our patients are often the first to receive the latest treatments and technologies.

We regularly participate in clinical trials through Yale Center for Clinical Investigation, Yale Cancer Center and other clinically-based organizations.

Through the Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital network, we collaborate with other hospitals and programs, opening clinical trials to patients throughout the region and providing people with greater access to comprehensive clinical programs for cancer care. The Yale Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in Connecticut.
