He completed training in Palliative Care/Geriatric Supportive Oncology training at NYC VA System/Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He previously was at the University of Connecticut Center on Aging with a special focus on Geriatric Oncology. He has completed a Residency in the department of internal medicine at Bridgeport Hospital, Yale-New Haven Health. Imran has graduated from St. Georges’ University School of Medicine’s Global Scholar’s program pursuing a combined Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health at New York Medical College. He plans for a career in clinical as well as policy/advocacy position in Geriatric Medicine specifically with the intersection between emerging cancer therapies, survivorship, and palliative care with training at the University of Connecticut Center on Aging, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Mount Sinai Medical Center. With regard to research, he is working on better understanding what methods be it blood biomarkers or specific functional assessment that can predict better outcomes in the oncological treatment of older adults. Another area of interest is examining the incidence of cognitive impairment with newer targeted immunotherapy in the treatment of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer specifically in older adults.
When it comes to public health, he aims to focus on improving long-term care preparedness in settings of emergencies with special care for the needs of vulnerable populations such as older adults.
As part of Northeast Medical Group Imran covers Subacute Rehabilitation on the Long Term Acute Care Units at Gaylord Specialty Hospital and has contributed to the Geriatric Medicine consult service at Bridgeport Hospital. The bulk of his practice continues in his position as Assistant Professor Department of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai based at the New Jewish Home Long Term Care Center.
