Book an AppointmentJacky Yeung, MD, is a neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgical treatments of brain and spine conditions.
Dr. Yeung is a specialist in keyhole neurosurgery, which uses small, precise incisions to access and treat complex brain and spine conditions. This approach reduces trauma and promotes faster recovery times by minimizing disruption to surrounding tissues. He is also skilled in endoscopic spinal surgery, a minimally invasive technique that allows most patients to go home on the same day of surgery.
These techniques are used to treat a range of conditions, including benign and malignant brain tumors, spinal tumors, hydrocephalus, pituitary tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, Chiari malformation, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), aneurysms, chronic pain, spinal deformities, carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral nerve injuries, epilepsy, and cranial nerve disorders.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Yeung is an assistant professor of neurosurgery at Yale School of Medicine. His research interests include tumor immunology, where he studies how brain tumors evade anti-tumor immunity, and leveraging machine learning to understand the human brain's functional connectivity. This work has significant implications for neurorehabilitation and the development of personalized pre-operative brain mapping techniques.
Dr. Yeung obtained his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed his residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. He further specialized by completing a fellowship at the Centre for Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery in Sydney, Australia. He has received numerous awards, such as the AANS Tumor Section Skull Base Research Award and the Dennis D. Spencer Academic Achievement Award from Yale School of Medicine. His work has been widely published in prestigious journals including Clinical Cancer Research, Journal of Neuro-Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, and Science Immunology.
