I’ve been a teacher and mentor to clinician-educators, Internal Medicine residents, and medical students for over 20 yeaI’ve been a teacher and mentor to clinician-educators, Internal Medicine residents, and medical students for over 20I’ve been a teacher and mentor to clinician-educators, Internal Medicine residents, and medical students for over 20 years. I’ve held several leadership positions including Director of Educational Development, Internal Medicine Residency Program Director, M3 Clerkship Director, and Chief, Internal Medicine, Ambulatory Division. I’ve developed and implemented novel resident and medical student assessment tools, and I’ve developed and implemented numerous faculty development programs. I’ve worked with Wayne State University School of Medicine on several projects around curriculum design, assessment, and mentorship. I’ve worked with leadership at the University of Michigan’s School of Education to create and implement better teacher assessment tools and to develop a “teaching high school” modeled after residency education (often, these are grant funded projects). I speak and deliver workshops on the topics of teaching and assessment in medical education; I have been invited to speak numerous times at local, regional, and notional conferences on the above topics and on our in- house assessment tools. I’m currently working on a right-brain-themed, film-based curriculum about the affective, abstract, and tacit aspects of teaching, learning and assessment in medical education.
