Pietro G. Andres, MD

Dr. Pietro Andres graduated from Bowdoin College, received a medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and completed his medical training at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. After completing his fellowship in gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, he spent five years as a faculty member in the Gastroenterology Department at the University of California, San Francisco. While there, he was a member of the UCSF Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, focusing on patients with complex cases of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. He also conducted research on the dysregulation of the immune system that can lead to these disorders.

Dr. Andres joined Northeast Medical Group Gastroenterology Associates in 2004. His interests include immunologic disorders of the gastrointestinal tract such Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, microscopic colitis, celiac disease and eosinophilic esophagitis. He also has significant experience in managing GERD, pancreatic disease and colon cancer.

Dr. Andres is on the Board of Directors of The Kennedy Center of Trumbull, a non-profit organization serving people of all ages with disabilities, and he volunteers his time in support of The Kennedy Center’s Autism Project, which provides programs and services for children with autism. Dr. Andres is married, with two children. He enjoys traveling to his native Italy, and jogging with his Labrador retriever, Mia.
