Sanford Edwards, MD

Sanford Edwards, MD, a board-certified general surgeon, is passionate about robotic surgery, which allows him to perform surgery with added precision while returning patients to their normal activities faster than traditional open surgery. Dr. Edwards finds joy and excitement in treating a variety of different pathologies throughout the body and is committed to providing the best care for his patients. Some common surgeries that he performs include cyst removal, port placement, lipoma removal, skin cancer removal, breast biopsy, lumpectomy, mastectomy, lymph node biopsy, robotic and open inguinal/umbilical/incisional hernia repair, robotic hiatal hernia repair, appendectomy, robotic and laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, lysis of adhesions, robotic colon resection for cancer and benign pathology, screening colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, pilonidal excision, and hemorrhoid surgery.

Dr. Edwards earned his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University and completed his general surgery residency at Mount Sinai South Nassau in Oceanside, New York, where he also served as chief resident and earned the senior resident operative skills award. His philosophy is simple: “treat every patient as if he or she were his own family member.” In his spare time, Dr. Edwards enjoys playing tennis, traveling and going to concerts. He is board-certified from the American Board of Surgery (ABS).
