Bridgeport Hospital

Hospital named a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center

Bridgeport Hospital has been certified by The Joint Commission as a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center (TSC). Offered in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, TSC Certification means a hospital meets rigorous standards for performing endovascular thrombectomy and providing post-procedural care. Recent studies show the effectiveness of mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusive ischemic strokes.

“As soon as a stroke occurs, brain cells start to die, which is why it is so important to act fast,” said Jennifer Reynolds, RN, Stroke Program manager. “Patients are now able to get this advanced stroke treatment faster and closer to home, which translates to higher chances of doing well and possibly reducing disability after stroke.”
