What to Expect When you Arrive

Bridgeport Hospital has implemented new safety procedures at all its facilities. Depending on your procedure or visit, our scheduling office will explain everything you need to know including where to park your car and how to check-in. Many of our locations have remote check-in while patients are still in their cars, and then they are escorted directly to pre-surgical bays.

Extra Care, Extra Precautions

All patients must wear a mask before entering any of our buildings. Whenever possible, patients should bring their own mask from home. We have masks if you don’t have one with you. As an added safeguard, we continue to enforce visitor restrictions to protect our patients, employees and the community. If you or a loved one has to go to the ER, hospital or one of our ambulatory sites, please know that visitors are not permitted except under extenuating circumstances. Your Safety = Our Priority

Reports indicate that many people who know they would benefit from a procedure today are delaying it because of fear. The medical and surgical staff at Bridgeport Hospital assures patients that the hospital is safe for you and your loved ones. Here are just a few of the safety measures we have in place to keep you safe:

• Enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of hospital rooms and public areas.
• COVID-19 patients are cared for in designated areas, separate from patients without COVID-19.
• We’ve closed many of our waiting rooms by offering online check-in through MyChart.
• Social distancing implemented in places such as cafeterias and elevators. Given how effective social distancing has been to “flatten the curve,” we’ve made it easier for people to stay six feet apart with marked signage and Plexiglas barriers in transaction areas.
• Continuing with a “no visitor” policy (with some exceptions for children, special-needs patients and people with disabilities who need a support person).
• Patients and any visitors are screened for symptoms at the door and must wear masks. Our employees, too, check symptoms and temperature twice a day.
• Testing is important. Every patient admitted to the hospital is tested for COVID-19. We’ve also established a program that tests employees and physicians regularly.
