Beginning Jan. 1, Yale New Haven Health transitioned to Cigna for employee medical benefits administration.
For employees on the YNHHS Medical Plan, the basic plan design has not changed. The medical plan continues to offer three levels of coverage (Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3). Out-of-pocket expenses – including flat copays, no deductibles and no coinsurance – are lowest when using Tier 1 physicians and facilities. Most providers and facilities previously in Tier 1 are in the Cigna network.
CVS Caremark remains the YNHHS prescription plan administrator and there are no changes to the dental or vision plan design for this year.
If you have questions about this year’s medical benefits plan, resources are available (see table for contact information).

Employees enrolled in the YNHHS Medical Plan should have received their new 2023 medical plan ID cards from Cigna, YNHHS’ new medical plan administrator, by the end of December. Don’t forget to add the new card to your wallet – and remind your benefits-covered family members to, also. You may also visit www.mycigna.com to print a copy of your ID card or access it from your mobile device. Also, be sure to update your insurance information as you visit your medical providers over the coming months so they have the correct insurance billing information on file.
