Ena Williams, RN, PhD, Yale New Haven Hospital chief nursing officer, was recently named to the Board of Directors of The Joint Commission and the Board of Trustees of the American Nurses Foundation. Williams joined YNHH in 1992 as a staff nurse in Perioperative Services and has held a number of different leadership positions during her tenure. She became the hospital’s first African-American CNO in 2018. The Joint Commission evaluates and certifies more than 22,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the U.S. to improve health care for the public. The American Nurses Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Nurses Association, the professional association of the country’s 4 million registered nurses.
