Flu season will soon be upon us, and YNHHS is gearing up for its annual mandatory flu vaccination program designed to protect patients, families and employees.
Beginning in early October, YNHHS will provide flu vaccinations to employees at numerous locations throughout the health system. Seasonal flu activity generally begins in October and can last through May, making fall vaccination effective in fighting the virus through spring.
As a condition of continued employment, employees and physicians must receive a flu vaccination or have an approved medical or religious exemption. This requirement also applies to employees who work remotely.
Onsite vaccinations will begin at Yale New Haven Hospital’s York Street Campus Wednesday, Oct. 12, and on the Saint Raphael Campus Thursday, Oct. 13. The deadline to receive the flu vaccination is Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022.
To help promote social distancing, employees must schedule their flu shot by signing into Infor, then Employee Self-Service (ESS), or through the Employee Health section on the Infor landing page (click “Get Your Flu Vaccine” in the menu on the left side of the page).
Volunteers, students, travelers, vendors and non-employed licensed independent practitioners may schedule an appointment through ynhhs.org/GetVaccinated, or fluvaccination.ynhh.org.
As alternatives to onsite locations, employees may get vaccinated at their primary care physician’s office or a participating retail pharmacy. Those enrolled in the YNHHS medical plan will have their copay automatically waived if they get vaccinated after Sept. 1, 2022, at a retail pharmacy in the CVS Caremark vaccination network, such as CVS, Walgreens or Stop & Shop. Those who get vaccinated at a CVS MinuteClinic must present their Anthem Blue Cross card to have their copay waived.
Additional details about vaccination options, including how to submit documentation of vaccination by a primary care provider or participating pharmacy, will be available on the ESS dashboard.
In addition to getting vaccinated, all employees, including those working remotely, must complete the online flu module on the Infor Learning Management System by Oct. 15.
