In October, YNHHS will roll out its annual mandatory flu vaccination program, designed to protect both patients and employees.
The deadline to receive the flu vaccination is Dec. 1, 2021. Employees and physicians must receive a flu vaccination or have an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of continued employment.
Beginning mid-October, YNHHS will provide flu vaccinations to employees at locations throughout the health system, including on many department floors and units. Seasonal flu activity generally begins in October and can last through May, making fall vaccinations effective in fighting the virus through spring.
To help maintain social distancing, employees must schedule their flu shot via MyChart, choosing a convenient time at an on-site or satellite location. Employees not enrolled in MyChart will be able to create an account or sign in as a guest at mychart.ynhhs.org to schedule their vaccination.
In addition to the on-site locations, employees may be vaccinated at their primary care physician’s office or a participating CVS Caremark network pharmacy. Details about vaccination options, including how to submit documentation of vaccination by a PCP or participating pharmacy, will be available on the Employee Self Service (ESS) dashboard, (in network only) accessible through Infor (select “Action Dashboard” on the Infor landing page).
Information about applying for a medical or religious exemption will also be available on ESS. Employees must request the appropriate exemption by Oct. 23. Employees who previously had a non-pregnancy related medical exemption from flu vaccination do not need to submit another request.
Look for additional details on scheduling your flu vaccinations in upcoming employee newsletters and on the employee intranet.
