These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.
Kwame Osei-Tutu, RN, MICU 9 and 10, and Matthew Gueble, PA, Northeast Medical Group Hospitalists, were honored for compassionate patient-centered care. When the family of a critically ill patient made the difficult decision to withdraw supportive care, they expressed their desire to first capture the patient’s heartbeat. Osei-Tutu and Gueble explored various options, such as printing rhythm strips, but the family had a strong wish to hear the heartbeat. Osei-Tutu and Gueble facilitated the use of an ultrasound machine to record a small sound clip of the patient’s heartbeat, which the family planned to incorporate into a Build-A-Bear as a remembrance of their loved one.
All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for PEACE recognition. Send nominations to: [email protected].
