Deadline to designate cash-in hours is Dec. 22
Recognizing that extenuating circumstances – including the pandemic, continuing high census and staffing issues – have made it very difficult for many employees to take paid time off (PTO), Yale New Haven Health is offering a special, one-time PTO cash-in opportunity for 2022.
During this special PTO cash-in, eligible employees who wish to participate can elect to cash in PTO hours that they will earn in 2022 and choose to cash in during that same year. Employees have until 5 pm Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, to choose the number of hours they wish to cash in for 2022. During 2022, per IRS guidelines, employees cannot elect PTO cash-in for 2022, nor can they change their elections.
The health system does not plan to offer PTO cash-in beyond this special opportunity for 2022. Health system leaders continue to strongly encourage employees to use PTO as intended – for illness, vacation, or time off to address personal needs.
