YNHH and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program are again offering free federal and state income tax preparation services to YNHH employees whose total household income was under $54,000 in 2018. VITA tax preparers will see employees in the consultation room at the YNHH Fitness Center, 48 York St., Mondays and Thursdays, Feb 4 - April 11. Employees must call the Benefits Office, 203-688-8339, to make an appointment with a tax preparer, which takes 30 - 45 minutes. Employees must bring all W-2 and 1099 forms for the 2018 tax year; a copy of 2017’s tax return; a copy of a photo ID (driver’s license, passport or YNHH employee ID badge); original Social Security cards or the individual taxpayer identification number of each person being claimed; and bank account information for direct deposit of any IRS refund. More information about the VITA program – including other sites for VITA tax preparation in Greater New Haven – is available on Infor.
YNHH’s Mutual Respect Committee is hosting a month-long canned-food drive to help those in our communities who are struggling. The committee is asking employees to help local families by donating food (canned only) through Feb. 20. Donations will be distributed to local food banks. Please drop off items at the Atrium Gift Shop entrance or New Haven Unit cafeteria, York Street Campus; or the Saint Raphael Campus All Spice Café. For more information, call Michelle Poynton, 203-688-0012, or Diane Mercado, 203-688-2185.
