Ernesto Ramos, Billie Edwards
Congratulations to these Great Catch winners for modeling HRO safety behaviors and taking action to improve patient safety.
Ernesto Ramos, environmental services associate, was recognized for practicing a questioning attitude and speaking up for safety with 200% accountability. When he saw a patient getting out of bed without support, Ramos immediately alerted clinical staff, then stayed with the patient until the clinical team arrived. By using CHAMP behaviors, Ramos prevented a potential fall and serious injury.
Billie Edwards, diagnostic medical sonographer, Shoreline Medical Center, was recognized for practicing a questioning attitude and escalating her concerns. While performing an ultrasound, she noticed the patient had additional symptoms that were inconsistent with the exam she was performing. She escalated her concerns to the radiologist and additional testing was performed. Edwards’ use of CHAMP behaviors led to an additional diagnosis for the patient.
