YNHHS named to DiversityInc’s Top Hospitals & Health Systems top 10 list
Yale New Haven Health has been ranked #8 in the nation in the
2020 DiversityInc Top Hospitals & Health Systems list. The award, announced earlier this month, recognizes YNHHS’ commitment to diversity and inclusion through its work and accomplishments across all levels of the organization. YNHHS was recognized in the areas of hiring, and retaining and promoting women, minorities, people with disabilities, people who are LGBT and veterans.
“Yale New Haven Health has fully embraced not just the concept of diversity and inclusion, but what it takes to make it part of the fabric of our organization,” said Marna P. Borgstrom, YNHHS CEO. “We designed a strategic approach that includes all aspects of our operations and fosters an environment of inclusion and respect. We believe this enriches both the patient and the employee experience, contributes to the quality of care we provide and supports the communities we serve.”
At the end of 2019, YNHHS comprised 78 percent women and 36 percent people of color. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion has led the standardization and implementation of a YNHHS diversity and inclusion strategy and partnered with delivery networks to create six Diversity Councils. YNHHS also developed 10 diversity and inclusion classes for staff and launched the “Let’s Talk” platform.
