Blood drive at SRC Aug. 30

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the Saint Raphael Campus, 7 am - 4 pm Tuesday, Aug. 30, in the cafeteria. Nurture the Nurse retreats to run September - June

YNHH has scheduled a series of Nurture the Nurse retreats on Fridays, September - June, at the Mercy Center, Madison. Retreats will teach self-care through holistic nutrition, yoga, self-reflection, labyrinth walks and guided imagery. Nurses who attend one of the eight-hour retreats will earn six continuing education credits. The retreats are limited to 12 participants and fill quickly. Nurses should register at least two weeks before each retreat through Employee Self Service. Manager approval is required. Transforming Healthcare Grand Rounds Sept. 13

Employees are invited to Transforming Healthcare Grand Rounds, 5 - 6:30 pm Tuesday, Sept. 13, Fitkin Auditorium. The speaker is Carol Greenlee, MD, vice chair, Council of Subspecialty Societies for the American College of Physicians. The talk is part of a series designed to help employees and physicians enhance their clinical leadership by learning from national and international experts on improvement science. Sickle cell walk Sept. 17

YNHH is a sponsor of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America Southern Connecticut Walkathon to raise funds for and awareness of sickle cell disease. Alzheimer's Association walk Sept. 25

YNHH is a sponsor of the local Alzheimer's Association's Walk to End Alzheimer's, Sunday, Sept. 25 at New Haven's Lighthouse Point Park. Registration is at 8:30 am for the 10 am walk. Auxiliary annual meeting Sept. 29

The Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary will hold its 64th annual meeting Thursday, Sept. 29 at the New Haven Country Club, 160 Hartford Turnpike, Hamden. The evening will begin at 5:30 pm with hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Dinner is at 6:30 pm, followed by the nominating committee report, installation of officers and Toy Closet program awards. At 8 pm, guest speaker Mark Mercurio, MD, chief of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and director of the Ethics Program at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital (YNHCH), will present "The Evolution of Neonatal Intensive Care at YNHCH and Beyond."
