A Positive Difference is the giving program designed to make it easy for employees to include YNHH in their annual charitable giving. Employees may choose from 11 patient-centered funds to support; give $2 or more per paycheck through automatic payroll deduction; and change the amount or fund they’re giving to any time through Infor. A mailing explaining A Positive Difference has been sent to employees’ homes. Those who enroll by Monday, Sept. 30 will be eligible for a drawing for one of five iPads. YNHHS employees and physicians are invited to the Center for Health Care Innovation’s first HealthTech Forum, 8 am - 3 pm Tuesday, Nov. 5, Zhang Auditorium, Yale School of Management, 165 Whitney Ave., New Haven. The event, also open to staff, researchers, faculty and student teams at Yale University, along with members of the community, seeks to lower the barrier to healthcare innovation and help the next group of innovators translate their ideas into solutions that reshape the healthcare experience. The event will include education programming featuring insights on innovation and entrepreneurship from YNHH leaders, area investors and healthcare entrepreneurs, and a pitch competition for innovators to pitch their healthcare innovation ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to win a prize. Yale New Haven’s SYN:APSE Simulation Center will host information tables during Healthcare Simulation Week Sept. 16 - 20. Center staff will answer questions, provide information about the benefits of simulation and demonstrate a simulation manikin. Giveaways will be available. The Simulation Center provides a safe learning environment which fosters mutual respect and interdisciplinary team spirit. Volunteers are needed to provide tax preparing services from late January through mid-April 2020 in the Yale New Haven Hospital Pediatric Primary Care Center. This tax prep assistance program will help low-income, working families, people with disabilities and non-native English speakers. No prior tax knowledge is needed to participate; volunteers will need to complete an online or in-person tax preparation training course and receive IRS certification. Yale New Haven Hospital has earned platinum-level recognition for participation in the Workplace Partnership for Life (WPFL) Hospital Organ Donation Campaign, which aims to increase organ, eye and tissue donor registrations. The WPFL is a national initiative that unites the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration and organ donation community with workplaces nationwide. YNHH was recognized for educating staff, patients, visitors and communities about the critical need for organ, eye, and tissue donation, and offering opportunities to register as donors. YNHH was one of 638 organizations to earn platinum recognition. This year’s campaign added more than 48,000 registrations to state registries and the Puerto Rico registry.
