On Oct. 20, Yale New Haven Health is scheduled to launch a twoversion upgrade of Epic that will make it easier to access and edit key information and perform a variety of functions. The YNHH Diversity and Inclusion Council and Language Services department will mark Language Celebration Day Friday, Sept. 28, with information tables in the cafeteria entrances at both campuses and a talk by international healthcare consultant Cindy Roat on how language and cultural awareness are important to patient-centered care. The talk will be 9 am - noon, East Pavilion cafeteria special events area, York Street Campus, and 1 - 4 pm, Selina Lewis Multipurpose Room, Saint Raphael Campus.
All are invited to “Artistic Expressions of Transgender Youth,” a free diversity and inclusion workshop with Tony Ferraiolo, transgender youth advocate/trainer and author. The event will be noon - 2 pm Friday, October 5, Baker Auditorium, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, New London. Lunch will be served. YNHH is looking for bakers to participate in the 6th Annual Cupcake Wars in November. The event helps raise funds for and awareness about United Way of Greater New Haven’s work in the community.
This year’s event will also benefit Icing Smiles, a nonprofit organization that provides custom cakes and other treats to families impacted by a child’s critical illness. Twenty baker slots are available for the competition and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. To enter, email [email protected] by Oct. 19.
