Pink Pledge Returns in October

Connecticut has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society. Through fundraising and education services, the Norma Pfriem Breast Center supports those affected by this disease.

The second annual Pink Pledge is a month-long event that will raise funds for programs for women in need while increasing awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection and continued research needed for a cure.

The Pink Pledge campaign launched on September 29 at the Sherman Green Gazebo on the Post Road in Fairfield with the Stroll for Strength. The nearly one-mile stroll was led by a pink Fairfield Police cruiser. All cancer survivors are invited to add their Signatures of Strength to the vehicle throughout the month.

Also throughout October, there are various ways to get involved with Pink Pledge, like attending an event, shopping at certain retailers or even scheduling a mammogram.

Supporters can purchase a $10 "Pink It Up!" starter kit containing a string of pink lights, luminaries, a lawn flag and other items to spark creativity. On Sunday, October 16, help us Shine the Light on breast cancer by keeping your pink lights on all evening to help spread awareness The Pink Pledge is one of the most recognized fundraisers for the Norma Pfriem Breast Center. Last year, the campaign brought in over $137,500.

The Norma Pfriem Breast Center opened its newest location at Park Avenue Medical Center in May 2016.
