Upcoming heart walks: May 4 in New Haven, May 10, Westport

The Heart and Vascular Center (HVC) is partnering with the American Heart Association to promote healthy heart awareness across Yale New Haven Health with the Greater New Haven Heart Walk Sunday, May 4, Lighthouse Point Park, New Haven; and the Fairfield County Heart Walk Saturday, May 10, Sherwood Island State Park, Sherwood Island Connector, Westport. Check-in time for both walks is 9 am; walks begin at 10 am. Each walk is 3 miles.

Walkers representing the HVC at Bridgeport, Greenwich and Yale New Haven hospitals, along with Yale University, Yale School of Medicine and Northeast Medical Group will help raise funds to support lifesaving science related to heart disease and stroke. Yale New Haven Health is a sponsor of both walks. HVC fundraising goals are $5,000 for the Fairfield County Heart Walk and $50,000 for the Greater New Haven Heart Walk.

YNHHS employees and physicians, as well as community members who are on an existing team or want to participate in the Greater New Haven Heart Walk can visit www.newhavenheartwalk.org or contact Chelsea DeGroat of the American Heart Association, Chelsea.DeGroat@heart.org. For the Fairfield County Heart Walk visit www.fairfieldcountyheartwalk.org or contact Travis Tam of the American Heart Association, Travis.Tam@heart.org.
