Virtual weight-management program starts Jan. 20

YNHH’s Center for Nutrition and Wellness is offering a virtual “Live Well and Lose It” group weight-management program, Wednesdays, Jan. 20 - March 10. Participants may attend 12:15 pm or 7 pm sessions. YNHH registered dietitians will conduct sessions via YNHH’s Zoom platform. The program is covered under Yale New Haven Health’s benefits plan for employees and their adult dependents, with no copay or deductible. Each session includes a 30-minute lecture on topics such as best food choices, portions, dining out, meal planning and cooking strategies, managing cravings and staying motivated. Participants may weigh in on their own scales or on site, by arrangement. Contact [email protected] or call 203-688-2422 to register. Individual consultations with a dietitian are also available.

Go Red for Women event Feb. 11

The American Heart Association’s annual New Haven Go Red for Women Event will be digital this year, at 6 pm Thursday, February 11. Lisa Freed, MD, director of the Women’s Heart and Vascular Program at YNHH’s Heart and Vascular Center, is event chair. The evening will feature a keynote address, survivor story, fundraising appeal, silent auction and educational information. Funds raised will go to research and education aimed at raising heart health awareness and reducing disability and death from cardiovascular disease and stroke in Connecticut women. Dr. Freed will also lead a Feb. 3 STEM Goes Red digital event for more than 75 Connecticut students.
