Struggling to balance the stresses of work/home life in light of COVID? It takes a special kind of resilience to deal with the pressures of a global pandemic. Patients, employees and the public are invited to a free Smilow Wellness Workshop, “Managing Stress and Building Resilience During COVID,” 4 - 5:15 pm Thursday, Feb. 11. During the workshop, psychologist Jacob Tebes, PhD, will share tools and strategies developed during stress and resilience sessions Yale School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry conducted with more than 4,000 healthcare workers. The Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary is offering 10 scholarships for $2,000 apiece to area students planning to pursue health-related careers. Scholarships are based on academic excellence, financial need, personal statement and community service, including school and community activities and/or employment. Yale School of Medicine investigators and others across the country recently launched a nationwide study of patients who had COVID-19 to assess the outcomes of infections on various age groups over two years. The INSPIRE (Innovative Support for Patients with SARS COV-2 Infections Registry) study team is partnering with Yale New Haven Health to share study details with patients and promote enrollment in the study. INSPIRE, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded project, aims to track 4,800 individuals. Researchers will look at healthcare utilization, ongoing clinical events and physical and mental function, including neurocognitive function and fatigue.
