EP 5-7 earns Capacity Champions Cup

Congratulations to staff with the Heart and Vascular Center Observation Unit (EP 5-7), who received Yale New Haven Hospital’s Capacity Champions Cup. The award recognizes units that meet their discharge target the most days in the previous month. It is part of Yale New Haven Health’s efforts to improve patient throughput by ensuring that patients who are clinically ready to leave the acute-care setting experience a safe and timely discharge. Kendra Brantley, RN, EP 5-7 assistant patient services manager, attributed their success to communication and teamwork. EP 5-7 truly operates as a team, she said, with unit leadership often pitching in to support staff in removing IVs, reading discharge instructions or helping patients to their cars.
