Do you need a blood test or other routine laboratory test? Head to one of the more than 50 Yale New Haven Health blood draw stations throughout Connecticut and into Rhode Island.
For employees on the health system medical plan, YNHHS blood draw stations are considered Tier 1. That means employees and their dependents on the medical plan are charged a $25 co-pay for a visit to the lab, which covers all testing done during the visit. Most competitor labs are not Tier 1 and employees may pay a higher deductible.
Other advantages of using YNHHS locations include reliable and high-quality lab services; quick turnaround time for results; access to results in MyChart; and overall convenience. YNHHS locations accept walk-ins, unlike some competitors, and many YNHHS locations also offer early-morning and weekend hours.
For employees not on the YNHHS Medical Plan, health system labs are in-network with most Connecticut insurance plans.
In addition to blood draw, YNHHS labs provide other routine testing, including urine tests and now testing for respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, RSV and the flu.
“When your primary care physician or provider requests blood work for you, let them know you prefer to go to a YNHHS lab,” said Kathy Mitas, system director, Lab Outreach. “If they give you a form for a different lab, you can still bring the form to a YNHHS location for service. Requisition forms from all major labs are accepted.”
