The day after his heart transplant, Ram Devkota, 31, sat in his room on Yale New Haven Hospital’s Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit and looked out the window, watching the sun rise.

Each year, Yale New Haven Hospital presents its Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Awards to New Haven high school students who exemplify the civil rights icon’s ideals.

Friends and families joined leaders and colleagues to honor the latest class of Yale New Haven Hospital Heroes during a ceremony in the Park Street auditorium recently. 

As she has many times before, Lisa McKeon, RN, carefully unwrapped the dressing from Margaret Devlin’s lower legs and feet during a recent home visit.
