Common themes emerged during a July 21 ceremony to induct 82 employees into Yale New Haven Hospital’s Quarter Century Club.
“Mentor,” “hard worker,” “above and beyond,” and “always putting patients first” were terms many leaders used to describe the employees in their departments who reached 25-plus years of service.
Throughout the virtual event, emcee Keith Churchwell, MD, YNHH president, listed some notable occurrences in 1997, when the inductees started their hospital careers. Among them: Facebook came online that year; Netflix launched; Elton John’s “Candle in the Wind” was the number one song; and gas was $1.22 a gallon.
After department leaders shared remarks about each inductee, Dr. Churchwell thanked the 25-year employees for their contributions in many different areas of the hospital.
“Your stories are remarkable,” he said. “They tell the tale of why we are able to deliver high-quality care and compassion to the patients and families that we serve every day.”
Congratulations, also, to employees who achieved milestone service anniversaries in the last year!
