These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.
Verdi 3 South staff were honored for compassionate care of a patient who experienced a painful emotional and physical clinical journey that came to a head with the amputation of her leg. To demonstrate his continued love and support for her, the patient’s fiancé asked Erik Randall, a Spiritual Care chaplain, about performing a commitment ceremony in the hospital. The Verdi 3 South team swung into action, offering hairdressing services, transportation to the chapel, music for the procession, photography and videography, all of which helped provide a meaningful and special experience for the couple.
Samantha Feliciano, RN, Trauma Surgery, was honored for compassionate, patient-centered care of a patient whose cognitive impairment and neurological changes left him unable to articulate his needs. Feliciano noticed that he struggled to independently navigate the menu to order meals, so she created a menu with photos and names of all the food items. The patient could put the picture and the words together and order on his own.
All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for PEACE recognition. Send nominations to: [email protected].
