These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet the patients’ and families’ needs.
Dayna Pecoraro, RN, Celentano 3, was honored for compassionate care of a patient with a terminal diagnosis. Throughout every stage of the patient’s stay and transition to hospice, Pecoraro put the patient’s clinical and emotional needs first, and hastened to meet all of the patient’s requests. Pecoraro’s compassion and thoughtful gestures of comfort and kindness ensured the patient had the best possible experience under life-altering conditions; and the patient’s family greatly appreciated the clinical care and emotional support she provided.
Susan Dalmoura, LCSW, a social worker at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, was honored for going above and beyond. While talking to a patient’s mother on the phone, Dalmoura heard screaming in the background and the call was disconnected. She attempted to call back several times but was unable to reach the patient’s mother. Dalmoura alerted the New Haven Police Department and requested a well-check visit on the family. Later that day the mother called back and thanked Dalmoura for her intervention, which helped prevent a verbal argument from escalating into a physical altercation.
All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for the monthly PEACE recognition. Send nominations to: [email protected].
