Yale New Haven Health rolled out the annual mandatory flu vaccination program this month. All employees and physicians, including those working remotely, must receive a flu vaccination or have an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of continued employment. The vaccination deadline for all employees and medical staff is Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021.
Flu vaccinations are now available at multiple locations across the health system, including at some off-site and satellite locations. Due to social distancing requirements, employees are asked to schedule a specific vaccination appointment.
In addition to the YNHHS on-site locations, employees enrolled in a YNHHS medical plan may obtain their flu shot from their primary care provider (PCP); a participating pharmacy in the CVS Caremark vaccination network, which includes CVS and Walgreens; or from a CVS Minute Clinic. If an employee receives a vaccination from a participating pharmacy, CVS Minute Clinic or PCP, and the facility uses Epic, their vaccination information will be shared directly with YNHHS.
Employees who choose to request a medical or religious exemption from receiving the flu vaccination must do so by Oct. 23, 2021. (Employees who previously had a non-pregnancy related medical exemption do not need to submit another request.)
In addition to vaccination, all employees—including those with a medical or religious exemption, or who work remotely – must complete the online flu module on the Infor Learning Management System (LMS).
