YNHH’s Center for Nutrition and Wellness is offering “Live Well and Lose It,” a weight-management program for employees and their adult dependents that is covered under the Yale New Haven Health System benefits plan with no copay or deductible. This eight-week program offers confidential weigh-ins, individualized goal setting and 30-minute, weekly group classes on topics such as best food choices, portions, dining out and staying motivated.
York Street Campus schedule: 12:15 pm Thursdays, Jan. 16 - March 5; Saint Raphael Campus: 12:15 pm Mondays, Jan. 13 - March 9 (no class Jan. 20). Two booster sessions will be scheduled after the program conclusion to help maintain accountability. Class space is limited, with a minimum of six participants per session. Would you like to learn how to be more resilient to stressful situations? Yale New Haven Health’s Employee and Family Resources (EFR) program’s latest class series, Mindfulness@Work, can help. This free, six-week workshop, facilitated by Bud Wassell, EFR coordinator and mindfulness instructor, teaches formal and informal mindfulness practices to help people become more present and compassionate with others, increase focus and concentration and bring more balance and contentment to work and life. Each Nov. 30, an employee’s Cash Account Pension Plan account balance is updated by an annual pay credit, plus an interest credit, which is entirely funded by Yale New Haven Hospital. The annual interest rate credited as of Nov. 30, 2018, was 3.8 percent. As of Dec. 1, 2019, the interest rate will continue to be 3.8 percent for the coming plan year. IRS maximum employees can contribute to the 403(b) plan.
For 2020, the Internal Revenue Service has announced that the annual maximum amounts employees can contribute to their 403(b) plan, also known as a tax-sheltered annuity, are: employees under age 50, up to $19,500 per year; employees 50 and older, up to $26,000. The hospital matches up to a maximum of 3 percent of the employee’s first 5 percent contribution of base pay.
