Social workers honored

On Dec. 1, the Department of Social Work recognized three licensed clinical social workers who received the department's first Award for Social Work Excellence (from left): Anna Marante, Yale New Haven Children's Hospital; Michael Joyce, Transplantation Services; and Craig Smith, Clinical Affairs. The award honors YNHH social workers who consistently go above and beyond to serve patients. All employees were invited to nominate a social worker by submitting a nomination application and letter of recommendation. Nominees had to be YNHH clinical social workers who provide direct patient care or services to patients and families that are guided by YNHH's patient- and family-centered care philosophy. Nominees also demonstrated the highest standards of personal conduct and professional integrity that advance the values, ethics and knowledge of the profession. An interdisciplinary committee selected the finalists.
