Every year, college football players from across the U.S. visit Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital patients as part of the annual Walter Camp football foundation weekend at Yale University. On Jan. 11, patients met a particularly inspiring player: Jake Olson, who plays football at USC despite being blind. Olson, who lost his sight to eye cancer at age 12, visited YNHCH with his mom, Cindy, and service dog, Quebec. With them were YNHCH Child Life specialists (l-r): Christin Haughton, Teresa McGinley, Kat Pullen and Karin Mattei. The day after his visit, Olson received the 2018 Walter Camp Perseverance Award.
