Local clergy joined Yale New Haven Health System physicians, employees and leaders at a Dec. 15 event that focused on balancing medicine and spirituality. The speaker was Horace Smith, MD, assistant professor in pediatrics – hematology, oncology and stem cell transplantation at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Smith, who is also bishop of the Apostolic Faith Church of Chicago, then led a dialogue with attendees. The event was sponsored by Smilow Cancer Hospital and Bishop Theodore Brooks of Beulah Heights First Pentacostal Church in New Haven, who is a Yale New Haven Hospital trustee. The presentation was part of the monthly Schwartz Center Rounds at YNHH, in which physicians and staff can discuss the social and emotional issues they face in caring for patients and families.
