Representatives from Yale New Haven Hospital and the Connecticut Department of Labor (DOL) recently congratulated 55 nurses who completed the DOL’s Nurse Apprenticeship Training Program.
At a Jan. 28 reception, Eleanor Lennon, program manager at the DOL’s Office of Apprenticeship Training, presented certificates of completion to nurses in YNHH Adult Critical Care and Perioperative Services.
The DOL also awarded YNHH a grant for nurse education; and Yale New Haven Health System received additional funding to continue the apprenticeship program, which also includes nurses at Bridgeport, Greenwich and Lawrence + Memorial hospitals.
On Jan. 27, Ena Williams, RN, YNHH chief nursing officer; Judith Hahn, RN, PhD, director of Nursing Professional Practice; and Mary Cleary, RN, manager of core education, Center for Professional Practice Excellence, joined U.S. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and representatives from other Connecticut organizations for a roundtable discussion on how they’ve used federal funds to help people advance their education and careers.
