Francine LoRusso, RN, MHA, vice president, Patient Services, Heart and Vascular, Transplantation and Medicine services, recently received the Mission Contributor award from the American Liver Foundation, Connecticut Division. The award recognizes LoRusso’s support of the American Liver Foundation and its mission to promote education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.
Maria MacKeil, RN, MSN, has been named clinical program director, Women’s Services. She joined the former Hospital of Saint Raphael in 2006 as nurse manager of Women’s Services, and became patient services manager of YNHH Women’s Services in 2012. Under her leadership, the Saint Raphael Campus Women’s Postpartum unit became the first such unit in Yale New Haven Health System to earn Baby-Friendly USA designation by promoting rooming in and increasing breastfeeding to improve infant outcomes. MacKeil earned her BSN from Fairfield University and her MSN from Loyola University. She completed the American Organization of Nurse Executives Fellowship in 2014 and is Certified Nurse Manager and Leader.
Elizabeth O’Mara, RN, MSN, has been named clinical program director, Women’s Services. She joined YNHH in 1987 and has held numerous clinical and leadership positions, serving most recently as patient services manager, Maternity and Well Newborn Services. O’Mara helped launch the couplet care model in Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The model, which keeps mothers and babies requiring neonatal intensive care in the same room, was the first of its kind in a U.S. children’s hospital and academic medical center and prompted
Parents magazine to name YNHCH one of the country’s most innovative children’s hospitals. O’Mara earned her BSN from Alfred University and her MSN from Sacred Heart University. She completed the American Organization for Nursing Leadership Fellow Program in 2013 and is a Certified Nurse Manager and Leader.
Lynne Sherman, RN, MHA, has been named executive director, Children’s Regional Network. In this position, she continues to oversee the Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital (YNHCH) Pediatric Specialty Centers. In addition, Sherman and Michael Caty, MD, YNHCH surgeon-in-chief, lead efforts to expand YNHCH programs across Yale New Haven Health System to create a signature of care for neonatal and pediatric services. Sherman joined YNHH in 1982 as a clinical nurse in Pediatrics. She has held other roles externally, in home care and insurance care coordination. Since becoming director of YNHCH Pediatric Specialty Centers in 2012, Sherman has grown the network and programs from two multispecialty centers in New Haven to seven sites across YNHHS. Sherman earned her BSN from Southern Connecticut University and her MS in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix. She also holds Nurse Executive Advanced board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
