Stacy Adil, manager, NP/PA Hospitalist Service; Jamie Habersang, outlier discharge care manager; and Alessandra Legaspi, RN, Medicine (SLA 4), were honored for a team effort that went above and beyond for a patient admitted after a fall. Staff learned that the patient’s wife was terminally ill on the York Street Campus MICU. The team provided emotional support to the patient and arranged for him to be transported to the YSC to be with his wife before she died. The patient greatly appreciated the care and compassion that allowed him to spend the last moments with his wife.
Elizabeth Vargas, administrative associate, Mauro-Sheridan School-Based Health Center in New Haven, was recognized for acts of caring and compassion for a family. Due to domestic violence, several family members (including a young child) became homeless. Vargas referred the family to the school’s social worker, helped them fill out required paperwork and provided them with food and clothing.
All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for the monthly PEACE recognition. Send nominations to: [email protected].
